Success!

I'm so excited to have finished my first sock for my sock pal!
Because my sockpal's feet are much longer than mine, I enlisted my placemat sock blocker (made using this fabulous tutorial) as a model. I'm very happy with the way this sock turned out - the colors, the pattern, and everything! My grafting has much improved since I started knitting socks. However, I'm still not completely satisfied with my grafting skills - anyone have any tips?

To celebrate the finishing of my first sock, I will be giving away this lovely skein of yarn:

Andes brand, 165 yards of 100% worsted-weight wool.

Want in? Just leave a comment by Wednesday June 13 at midnight and this fibery goodness could be yours!

The socks are lovely. I am sure you pal will love them.
The yarn is also a prize. June 13 will be my 38th wedding anniversary so would be great to win.

I love that sock! What pattern is it? I have been totally inspired by all of the short socks I've seen lately and plan to knit myself a pair of summer-friendly anklets!
Nice work!

Fabulous socks and gorgeous prize yarn. I'm going to have to give your sock blocker a try.

Probably you aren't pulling the yarn tightly enough when you are grafting. You have to yank it as hard as you do when you finish a stitch knitting or it won't look the same. Also, I find it is helpful to talk to myself knit purl, purl knit... as I graft.

Cheers!

I have a hard time grafting as well. I can't have anyone talking to me or any background noise while I'm doing it! :) I did see a pictorial in a knitting answers book that made a lot of sense to me - I guess I'm a visual person, however I don't know what book I found it it. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Love the sock, lusting after the yarn. Oh, and grafting? I could not get my head around it until I saw the tutorial here:

It's a video, so you can actually see how it's done (you need to scroll down).

How can i wipe windows xp from my laptop and reinstall windows Me -the laptops native software?
I have recently bought a used laptop that is old. The himself I had bought it from had installed windows xp on it, indeed for all that it at came with windows Me. I fall short of to eradicate the windows xp because it runs slows on the laptop because it takes up more thought than the windows Me would. Also I need to massacre windows xp because it is an illegal copy. So when I tried to stir one's stumps updates on it, windows would not set up updates because the windows xp is not genuine. Great article as for me. I'd like to read something more about this theme. The only thing your blog needs is some pictures of any gizmos.
